On Friday morning I went down to Hemel to meet up with my cousin and her two gorgeous kids. Anna and me hadn't seen each other about 4 years and it has been our first opportunity to see each other since she moved to New Zealand 16 month ago. After what felt like an endless train ride, I was at the train station in Hemel where my cous was waiting for me. We went to Sue and Marks place to pick up the kids (their aunty Janet was watching them) and then went to my aunty's for lunch. After a quick hello and lunch we were going into town to meet a friend of Anna's for tea and coffee. Anna has a week left in the UK, before she is going back home to New Zealand, so she is trying to meet as many people as she can before that. Her four year old (Jack) and me bonded really quickly and once Sienna was awake, so did her and I. Once we get back to Sue and Mark's place, I played a bit with the kids and then tried to get the kids settled down. Janet came back and the two of us started to make dinner (roast chicken, vegs and backed potatoes), before Sue came home from work. After Anna's friend Jude (who is blogging at make me an earth mother) arrived, we had a lovely dinner and great conversion. Hanging out with Anna was just as comfortable as it always was, some wine, food, friends and good and fun conversation.
Saturday we had lunch at my aunties again and then went to the farm with a friend of Anna's, for some more fun time. In the evening Anna and me hung out in front of the TV enjoying some peace and quietness. Sunday was my last day, after play and fun in the morning, we went for lunch at my aunties, so I could say my good byes, then met up with more of Anna's friends before she dropped me of at the bus station to catch the bus to the airport.

It was great to catch up with her and find my new best friend in Jackabe. I can't wait to actually go and see them in New Zealand in 2015 :)

Shell and me

Jenny, Shell and me - leaving dinner
I am back from my trip to the UK. After an early morning wake up and a bumpy flight, I arrived in London on Thursday morning. From there it was a short 4 hour train ride up north. Shell and Gaz were going to pick me up at the train station after work and it was just amazing to see them again. I kept a look out for their car but as they didn't find a parking spot I missed them and then suddenly Shell was in front of me, several hugs and kisses later we went to the car and it was as if I have never been away, I moved right back into me old life. We grabbed that takeaway Curry that I was looking forward to all week and headed home, where we spend the evening in PJ's catching up on each other.

Time in Newcastle was flying by, catching up with friends, having a night out in town, shopping the likes. I still can't believe it. I was able to catch up with Emi, my oldest friend in Newcastle. We met at work about 10 years ago and started in the same company about a month apart from each other and although Emi left the company already back in 2006 we have been friends ever since. She has a daughter, who just turned one while I was there and it was great to catch up with her and meet for lunch.
Spending time with Shell (my BFF) and her family was great too. It was great to hang out in the evening and talk about anything and nothing or just sit and watch endless episodes of Friends.

On Friday morning (18th) I left to go down to Hemel Hempstead to catch up with my cousin...

I'm coming home Newcastle...

Well I am nearly off for a 10 day vacation in Newcastle & Hemel Hempsted. I don't think I will manage to get online in that time, so I see you back here on the 21st of October.

Thanksgiving and farmers market

Celebrating thanksgiving at the church

In Germany, Christians celebrate 'Erntedank' (Thanksgiving) on the first Sunday in October to thank god for the good harvest. The church is decorated with fruits from the harvest. This is how my church was decorated this morning.

The afternoon was spend going to the farmers market it town. We have the usual market day on Friday but once a year on the first Sunday in October, there is a big farmers market in conjunction with 'Erntedank'. After it was rainy all day yesterday, today was dry. I enjoyed the walk over the farmers market a lot. I especially loved the animals as always. They had both baby sheep and baby lamb. Now I never wanted a goat to be honest but fell in love with the mini baby goats, so I might end up with a goat eventually anyway. They were way too cute, to be honest.

how could I not fall in love?
