Change or I quit

I am usually quite stubborn and never give up but today I have reached my limit and quit my job with immediate effect. I only started the job 2 month ago but it didn't turn out the way I thought it would. It was a sales job, switching energy providers to help people save money. I loved that I was outside so much but I hated the commute and the long hours. I had no time for myself or the garden and it was eating me alive. Add to that, I am not a sales person, so I was really struggling with the main aspect of the job.

So this morning I quit and will be looking for something else. Was it a sensible idea to quit without having a back up job to go to? Probably not but it was the one that felt right and made me happy and that is the most important thing.

At church

Usually on a Sunday morning you can find me at our church. I am proud to be lutheran-protestant and believe in Jesus and his teachings. I am one of the very few younger once that can be seen in church but I don't mind. My church is a mox between old traditions (most of the time) and adding something new every once in a while.

Today we celebrated the confirmation of my neighbour Georg. It was very different to my own confirmation 18 years ago but I thouroughly enjoyed it. We had a child choir attending the mass, who sang heavenly and the mix of old and new was just right.
Things have changed since my own confirmation, as mine was held in Bad Gandersheim where as this was in our local church, even though Georg was just on his own (like me at that time).

Georg I am wishing you all the best to your confirmation and on your way with Jesus.

A hard days work

Weekend has arrived and I have lot's to do. The main thing for today was to get the fence on the way. After I quickly went into town for some shopping, I have been out and about in the garden since 9am. I had to put the wood protection stuff on the fance poles and let them dry.
After that it was creating the holes for poles and putting them in. As I need some more help to actually set the fance, this will be done tomorrow.

In the afternoon I cleared the woodpile away that has been on the same spot for years, as no one bothered to get rid of it. I have plans for some potatos in that patch so needed to get rid of it and it looked really bad anyway, so now it looks much cleaner :)
I set up part of the smaller fence already, since the wall there anyway, I didn't need a very high fence. And as long as the dogs can't jump over it, I am happy.

I then went to cut down some old trees and found this guy still in the pile of wood where I saw him last fall. He then got up and walked away. Rather cute fella

At around 7pm I went to sit down with a beer on my little bench under the cherry tree. A hard days work was over and it's time to chill a little before I continue tomorrow

Thinking about the people in Boston

” When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

A few weeks ago, I found the pattern for a beautiful knitted shirt. It look absolutely gorgeous and I decided there and then that I needed to have it. So over the last week or so, I spend my time knitting whenever there was a spare moment and on Saturday, it was finally finished. Looks very pretty doesn't it? when I have another spare 5 minutes, I will upload the pattern to ravlery

Happy Weekend

It's been warm this weekend. On the walk out with the dogs I didn't need a jacket. The sky was blue, the birds were singing and it was just beautiful.
I enjoyed a game of fetch in the garden after 6pm with the dogs. The sun was still bright and warm

The flowers are coming out and are just gorgeous
And I had some time to clear some of the weeds away now my gooseberry bushes look pretty again
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderfull weekend

Rain, rain, rain

Oh the joy, yesterday I planted out in the garden and today it's a gently rain, filling the water barrel and giving some much needed water to the soil. Life is good!

Digging

Spring is in the air, or so it seems...at last... When I wake up in the mornings, I can hear the birds already up chirping away. The last snow has melted and at least the days are getting a bit warmer. Early morning and evenings are still cold.

I had big plans for today, I wanted to put the tiling on the kitchen wall, but after getting everything, the wall was aet, so no work to be done on there until the weekend at least.

I thought that I could plant some onions. The late snow has really put me behind on the garden. I still need to buld a fence around the garden, to stop the dogs from destroing everything but that has to wait until the weekend too. So after lunch I went in the garden, where it looked something like this.
So I got to work, a bit at a time and tilled the ground and evened it out

And one thing let to the next, so after I planted the onions, I planted two rows of carrots and radish. And next to that two rows of peas.

After some more tilling I planted five rows of fodder roots for the rabbits, and salat and some more onions for myself.

And this is the reason why i need a fence, the dogs are checking out the newly planted onions... The bit in the front still needs to be worked on. I will plant beans and cabbage on this mainly as well as some late peas and leeks
I still have seedlings in the house that will be going outside come May. These are cucumber plants
 Followed by Tomato
And kholrabi plants, today I planted some sweet pepper and leek seeds and hope they will come out soon. Here is hoping to a great garden this year.

Easter Monday walk

Snow that arrived here on Friday morning, a good 20cm and a blanket of snow covered the garden. During the weekend half of it melted and only in the shade and woods there is still some left. On Easter Monday the sun came out in the afternoon, so I took the dogs out for a two hour walk, through the fields, woods and snow.
