A day in the ....

Since moving back in the country my daily routine has changed a lot or so I have noticed. Sure I am still very busy to get things cleared, cleaned,  fixed and the garden preped for winter but that's not just it. I wake up (without an alarmclock) with the first rays of sunshine each morning, at the moment is usually at around 6.30am, after feeding the dogs and having breakfast myself, the dogs and myself go out for a walk up in th fields and woods. When I get back the Laptop is switched on and I start working. most of the days that's just shortly before or around 8am. I am then working until 11am or so before starting to prepare lunch. At the moment that sill involves, going out in the garden to pick some fresh salad. Depending on how much of my workload I got done in the morning, I am at the moment able to work in the garden in the afternoon. There is still so much to do. Two days ago my 90 year old neigbour ask if I wanted some carrots and pears, of course I said yes and by mid afternoon, I had a bucket of each.

The majority of the carrots got put in a sandbox, to keep for later.

The pears were peeled and cut and then canned. I managed to get 7 3/4l glasses out of them, plenty for this winter. I am so looking forward to eating them, I have not had canned pears in quite a few years.

I also did some more work in the garden. The rhubarb roots had to be split and a few of them got planted in a new place.
I took more grass of to convert more garden into planting land.
And then I had to do something for the backberries. During the storm we had 1.5 weeks ago, the blackberry bush fell over, so I had to put a few wood pillars in the ground, to get them back up

By the time it's 5 or 6pm I ususally finish up and make dinner and the rest of the evening is spend reading emails or a book but usually I am quite tired come 9pm and am in bed sometime between 9pm and 10pm, just to start the day all over.

My borther things I am crazy, for being up so early and in bed early too. He even suggested I should by a TV so I don't fall asleep in the evening but am not going to do that. I am really happy with how life is going right now, yes it's a lot of work but I am feeling fullfield, it's just hard to describe.

Next week will be focusing on the house. As I said, I need to get the bedroom done still but also need to tile the kitchen which will be the focus for We-Su next week. I am in Berlin Mo-Tue and We is a holiday in Germany.

Sunrise

I have been out early this morning, breakfast was finished just before 7am and then I took the dogs out for a walk to the woods. The sun was just rising on the horizon and it was such a beautiful sight to see. I am so much enjoying those early morning walks, the quietness and the beauty of the nature

Suprise

While I was busy working, the mail came and I had a nice suprise in it, my 3rd issue of taproot, oh what a treat for tonight to read

And while I was working Lily decided to spread out on the sofa...

Vannile kirpfel

After the cold of the morning, I decided that on top of my strawberry cake I was also going to bake some cookies, 'Vannile kirpfel' to be exact. My mom was invited over for tea in the afternoon and I thought some 'Kirpfel' would do nicely. The house was full of cookie smell and it was nice treat (still is for today too).

I am working from home this week, meaning I am able to use the early mornings and evenings to get some more work done. With fall and winter approaching there is still a bit left to do. I am half way done with cutting back the bushes and flowers and about half way done durning green grass into a garden for next year. I will need to take Lily to the vet this week for a booster rabies shots and then also aim to get my bedroom finishes by mid next week. Feels like there is so much to do and so little time

Fall

The morning started early and cold. After breaksfast I went for a walk with the dogs as usual. It wasn't even 8am yet when I got outside and I was glad for the wool hat and gloves. The still sunny and warm temperatures of the last few days and weeks had dissappeared and the air was cold and a slight mist/fog was there instead. A glance to the thermostat showed just barly 4 degrees Celcisus.

We still went for our walk and took some gorgeous pictures on this beautiful morning, the sky and the clouds made for an amazing view. And I think some cookie baking is in order for later on...

Apples

My neigbour came called on Saturday evening and told me that she has a 10l bucket of apples that I can have if I want. Since my own apple tree is only a year old, I of course said yes. I already received a few buckets earlier this year from her but as far as I am concerned you can never have too many apples. So yesterday I spend the morning backing an apple pie and those apples left were once again made into apple sauce.

Today will be another canning day, as once again I have a big bucket full of tomatos, I think this will be the last batch of tomatos for this year that I will get but made a really good haul on them
I saw this beautiful hot-air-baloon just shortly before 6pm above my garden.

Time

At the moment I am spending Monday through to Thursday in Teltow for work. I usually leave on Monday morning at 07:13 and am back home at 19:00 on Thursday. I am enjoying the work and being able to support setting up the new Service Centre but after 3 weeks of travelling I already know that I am also glad when the project is over and I am able to stay home. At the moment I have Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to work around the house and garden. Due to the set up progress is slow with all the things I want and need to get done.

Today I have started some digging to expand the garden, I figured that with the time I am away at the moment, it will take me a while to shift the grass and prepare the garden. I also expect some frost by mid October and I have a square of approx 6mx7m to dig, so that's what I have started to do. I figured that if i do a bit each day, I will eventually finish before the frost starts.

Studio Flooring

This morning was spend to put down laminat in the studio/library. It took approx 2.5 hours to get all that done. In the afternoon I put furniture back together, put books on the shelf and put the boxes that will be in the studio from the sitting room in the studio. Slowly but surely it feels like home.

I still have the master bedroom to do. I have a wood floor in there and need to find some time to sand it down before setting up the wardrobe but I think this will have to wait another week or two before I am able to do this.
