Company trip to Höxter

Yesterday my company had fun during outhe anual company trip that was organzied by Machmut and Petra. After we had some breakfast in the office we left the office around 11:15am and headed west. After about an hour drive, we arrived in Höxter, a town in estern North Rhine-Westphalia on the bank of the river Weser. Höxter has a well preserved  mediaeval town structure, beautiful half-timbered houses with high gables and carved façades from the 15th and 16th centuries.
We started our trip with a short boat tour on the river Weser. During this tour we went past the Covey Monastery that lies right on the outskirts of Höxter.

After the boat tour, we met a tour guide, who showed us around Höxter and told us more about it's history. The beautiful half-timbered houses are an amazing sight to see.

At around 4pm we drove to a wood cabin restaurant in Höxter-Albaxen. The restaurant is build like Canadian cabin and is just amazing. After the welcome and a little song, we participated in the 'Germanen-dreikampf'. A fun little competition, where we had to shoot, throw the  javelin and trow a big stick of a lack of beter word. It was a lot of fun and after a hard competition between me and me boss, I won in the end and was crowned to be now part of the ancient Germanic tribe. The day ended with a lovely meal, some drinks and dancing before we went back home after a fun-filled day.

Summer

It's been a week since my last post and I have been rather busy since then. The weekend was still cloudy, so I was able to do lot's in the garden. Weeding just never seems to stop... I am harvesting lot's of radish and strawberries now on a daily basis. The majority of strawberries is frozen right now, for use during the colder month when I bake or make smoothies, I usually harvest about a kilo a day at the moment. I am also planning to make some strawberries juice, like we used to do when I was a kid soon.

On Sunday we had a bit of a BBQ, which was nice and the sun came out too. Since then the temperatures have sored up to 40degress C each day. I was off work the last two days and spend the early morning in the garden, but after 2.5 hours and come 8:30am it's already way too warm to do anything out in the garden. Still I am enjoying the warm temperatures as best as I can :)

I hope you are having a great week.

After lot's of heavy rain, we had a week of sunshine, which has done wonders for the garden. To be honest it's probably too dry now and I need to water the garden every two days or so. Slowly but surely the strawberries are getting red. I had the first few on Sunday and have had a few more each day. They are so rich in flavour, it's pure joy. The currents are slowly turning red too and I harvested mor rhubarb too.Yesterday morning I planted another row of salad and two rows of peas for a later harvest.

How is your garden coming along?
