One

My baby boys turned one today. So now I am a mom of toddlers. I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. It feels as though I just gave birth yesterday and here they are reaching milestone after milestone.

A part of me is sad to 'loose' my babies to toddler-hood but I am also excited about that. They are so ready to explore the world and I love watching them discovering new things and skills everyday. While they are twins they are two very different personalities and I love that they are so different from each other.

Niklas, my sweet and loving first born. He is the quiet one, content to watch and observe or play on his own. This quietness is interrupted by burst of energy. He loves Liiiiliiiiii (Lily) and all animals in general. He stands, crawls etc but I am still waiting for his first steps. He can talk quite a bit: Mama, Liiiiliiii (Lily), Jisiiiiie (Jessie) and Jaob (Jacob). He is ok with food but loves mama's milk bar.

Happy Birthday Niklas, mommy loves you so much.

Jacob, my energetic and cute second son. Jacob is a ball of energy always on the go and getting frustrated if things don't go the way he wants them to go. I think he just waits for they day when he can finally run around on his own legs. He crawls and stands but can't yet walk which frustrated him lot's. He only says Mama so far but that is ok. He loves all kind of food and would eat all day if I let him, currently he loves 'Bratwurst' the best, which is great for BBQ season.

Happy Birthday Jacob, mommy loves you so much.

I spend the evening before their birthday preparing: baking blueberry-apple cupcakes, making a strawberry/raspberry cake, hanging up the birthday banner and setting up the presents on the table.

We celebrated quietly this first birthday, presents in the morning and lot's of playtime with the new presents. Some cake in the afternoon with family and all in all just enjoying this first birthday.

Happy Easter

Wishing you all a happy Easter. I have not posted much lately, because there was not much too talk. The days seem to be more or less the same day in and day out and I didn't find much time to go on the PC.

The boys are 10.5 month old now. They are growing so fast it's unbelievable. This weekend was their first Easter, not that they are yet aware of holidays. I spend the day cooking and outside. It was not as warm as yesterday but it was nice enough and I decided to take the boys out to the local Easter bonfire celebration. We only stayed for an hour, chatting to people, eating 'bratwurst' and chips and having a good time. We left shortly before 8pm, before the fire was lit as the boys were tired. Niklas was asleep at 8:05pm and Jacob followed a few minutes later and I am using the time to look through the pictures I took this weekend and updating the blog :)

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter Weekend.

Christmas Impressions

The last week was busy but oh so special. It's was the first Christmas with the boys and we had a great time with me mom and brother. We are starting our own traditions now and I can't wait to see how they will evolve over the next years.

Wishing you and yours a lovely start to the New Year

34

Yesterday I turned 34, my birthday was celebrated quietly just like I wanted. It's my last birthday without kids and all my presents revolved around presents for the twins (just as I had hoped).

Childrens Carnival

Here in Germany, right before lent, we celebrate Carnival. It usually starts on the Thursday before lent and ends on Ash Wednesday. Many towns, especially in the west have parades and festivals, especially on the weekend. Our village is quite small, so we don't have big celebrations but each year on what we call 'Carnival Tuesday' we have a small parade for the kids. Organized by the 'Bürgerverein' (local history and residents club), we meet in the afternoon, everyone is dressed up and we go through the village, moving from house to house. The kids sing and get some sweets and sometimes money. At the end of the day, we share the sweets and the money between the kids and have some hot dogs and drinks before going home. Its always a lot of fun and I was happy to organize and participate in this.

33 years old

my new jacket

It was my birthday this Sunday. I celebrated it small, with family, a neighbor and a very good friend of mine. Simple, just the way I like it. The weather was gorgeous, the sun was shining and I was able to see the snow drops and crocus coming out. I had made chocolate cake the day before, a recipe that I had not done in years but I craved a good chocolate cake. It came out beautiful and tasted amazing.

I hope that you guys had a great Sunday too.
