Container has arrived

Garden Update

For obvious reasons I had not much garden this year but the few things that I have are amazing and make me look forward to next year.
My mom planted some peas for me quite late in July so that I was able to tend to them when I got here. It was only a handfull of plants but I got a very good harvest out of them.

I have about 5 tomato plants and lot's and lot's of tomatos that have so far been put in my daily salad but I am planning on canning some real soon.

The blackberry bush is full too and I have frozen about 5 kilo so far. I don't have many carrots but enough for some cooking for the sunday meals for the last few weeks.

There is nothing that beats freshly harvested food to be put on the table

Berlin

I've been in Berlin for the last 2 days for work. When I left the UK I had the offer to support the implementation of our new Call Centre in Berlin and I took the chance. For once it will help me with re-entering the German job market and I am not in any finacial trouble because I am not working but it also allows me to work on looking into self employment without hassle.

I will be spending a lot of time in Berlin over the next 5 weeks before things are settling down and I will miss the dogs but the work is really interesting. I am responsible for the full recruitment for the centre, agents, TM's coaches, HR manager, site leader the lot but also defining the processes etc.
So far I spend my last few days screening TM's before I am heading back home in a few hours, then back out to Berlin on Monday morning for 4 days or so

this & that

I went for a walk early this morning with the dogs as usual. The street I live in is leaving up tp the woods and fields and I love the early morning walks. One of my  olderneigbours has their garden on the way and on my way back she asked me I wanted to take some flowers with me. Not one to say no to this beauty I did and they are now proudly showing on my kitchen table.

I then did some work in the house, I found these old shelves and thought they will do good in my storage room, and so i moved them there. The early afternoon was spend bulding a fence around the compost. For the week that we are here so far, the dogs are way to impressed with all the food they can find there, so a fence had to be put up. I am quite pleased with the way it turned out and Lily is less then impressed, so hopefully it will keep her out

39 degrees

Today was the hottest day of the year... At 4pm the thermostat still showed 39 degrees and even now we still have way over 30. Around 5pm I took the dogs down to the little river for a swim but majority of the day was spend inside.

Last night my neighbor called and told me she had some apples for me. Some apples meant a 10l bucket. So I went over at 5pm and picked up the apples. By 6pm I had some nice apples sause that will serve me well over the next few month :)

When I woke up this morning it was drizzling a bit, it was just after 6am and the dogs and me went out for a walk and to play ball in the fields. After breakfast I had to go into town quickly and my that time it was pouring rain. I was pleased with this, the garden needed some rain, after we had temperatures in the 30s for the last week that I am here and the rain barrels are full again, saving me from having to do it.

By 10am the rain had stopped and the sun came out and after lunch it was getting hot again. My mom and me used the time to get in the strawberry fields, cleaning them out,  preparing the soil and planting seedlings for next year. Both dogs were eager to help and I will build a fence around the garden part come autumn or I won't be able to harvest much next year

It was early in the morning when I went out for a walk with the dogs, the sun was just rising and I had an amazing view onto my little village. When we got back I went in the garden to pick some blackberries. All this was done before breakfast. I love these early morning. Birds are singing, blue sky, no distractions. It was a perfect start in the day.

Afternoon tea

I met with some old friends from school this afternoon for tea, coffee and bisquits. Kristina and her husband restored an old farmhouse in Harriehausen that her grand-ma used to live in. Between Kristina, Janine, Nelleke and myself we enjoyed a trip down memory lane and the kids enjoyed a sunny day outside

21 year reunion

21 years later

21 years after we graduated from 4th grade we had a reunion. We met at the Grundschule Bad Gandersheim at 1:30pm and the current principal showed us around the school. Some changes did happen but lot's is just the same. Between all of us we remembered so much, the things we did, the fun we had and all. It was only a handful who met and it was as if not a day had gone by. We then walked down to Kolumbus a cafe in town and spend the afternoon there with tea, coffee and cake before we went for dinner and a few drinks. It's beeen an amazing day, time just flew by and we all had a good time.

There is still work to be done before I am ready to really settle in. I found wooden flooring under the carpet in the bedroom but it still needs some work. The windows needed painting, which I have already done and obviously I am still waiting for the container. I am pleased with my cabinet that will be in the sitting room. My dad restored it some 15 years ago and I had left it in Germany for the time being. It's a reminder of my dad and really pretty in my eyes

Road Trip to Germany

I left the Newcastle at 7:40am on Thursday 09.08.2012 and arrived in Seboldshausen at 1:30am on the 10th of August. Lond trip for me the dogs and my brother but I am happy to be here
